3Sixty Integrated installs IP-based camera solution system and migrates older analog cameras to new IP platform.

Mission

In an effort to meet greater demands for security, the UTSA Police Department forecasted the need to increase their video surveillance system with additional cameras on a robust IP camera platform.  The existing system on campus consisted of analog cameras and software, and the university had made a number of significant investments into this system.  Therefore, the client wished to integrate as many of their existing cameras onto the new IP platform to limit replacement costs.

Solution

3Sixty Integrated designed a Salient Systems solution to support the migration of all the existing analog cameras to an IP platform through the use of digital encoders.  Both the existing analog cameras and new IP-based cameras seamlessly integrated onto the new platform.

Result

By clearly understanding the client’s needs and concerns, 3Sixty Integrated successfully worked in conjunction with the UTSA Police Department to save the campus significant upgrade expenses.  The analog cameras on the existing system were made more functional with IP signals recognized on any monitor connected to system, rather than facing the limitations of specific viewing on the previous analog technology.  In addition, the police department now has a scalable system allowing for the addition of numerous cameras at any location supported by their IP network.  This scalability grants UTSA the flexibility to grow their video surveillance system alongside their increasing demands.
